Hestia and Becoming a Domestic Goddess

Vanessa | June 1, 2010

Both Ban Breathnach and Cilley stress the importance of nurturing one’s soul even as one works to nurture the souls of others. This is an ongoing area of struggle for many of us, men and women, in this society and perhaps a safe, comfortable and, dare I say it, beautiful home is a balm to help bring us home to ourselves.

Reverence and Beauty

Vanessa | May 21, 2010

To celebrate signing the lease with new tenants and a major appliance move that has opened up loads of space in our back hallway (where we were storing a fridge, stove, washer and dryer from previous tenants) I decided to treat myself to Andrew Harvey’s new book, Heart YogaHeart Yoga. While I was there I [...]

More New Books

Vanessa | May 4, 2010

To celebrate completing my Embodied Wisdom course last week, I bought myself a couple of books that have been dogging me over the past month. The first is The Seeker’s Guide by Elizabeth Lesser and the second is The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton. Lipton is a cell biologist who, in this 2005 award-winning [...]

Woodman and Johnson: Junging it Up!

Vanessa | April 24, 2010

Nonetheless, I am enjoying the wealth of imagery and symbolism from the Jungian interpretation of these stories. I’ve gained insight that will help me with my own dream interpretation as well as increasing my capacity to help my coaching clients.

Woodman: I have a crush on Mary Hamilton

Vanessa | April 23, 2010

In Need of a Reading Binge?

Vanessa | April 12, 2010

I am. Desperately in need of a reading binge. There was quite a span for me where I could not find anything on my shelves that interested me – I would scan but nothing was of interest. At least not enough to actually take the time to read. But now everything has changed. There are [...]

Jung: The “Holy” Hermit

Vanessa | April 3, 2010

However, unlike Jung and traditional thought, I choose to believe we can be, as Caroline Myss has said, “mystics without monasteries.” That we can function in the world and still explore and express our soul’s intent. It is perhaps just a bit harder to hear the voice that tells us in which direction to move.

Jung: His Early Embodied Wisdom

Vanessa | April 2, 2010

He “felt that at some time or other [he] had passed through the valley of diamonds, but I could convince no one – not even myself, when I looked at them more closely – that the specimens I had brought back were not mere pieces of gravel” (104).

Jung: Developing a Sense of Oneness

Vanessa | April 1, 2010

For instance, one of the more amusing incidents of Jung’s awakening to Oneness was the first time he got drunk. How is this for a description of Oneness?
